The Liberty Borough Volunteer Fire Department is located approximately ten miles south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Sitting between the Monongahela and Youghiogheny rivers, we primarily serve a one square mile area protecting 2670 residents.  We are an all volunteer department comprised of 40 highly trained firefighters, vehicle rescue technicians and emergency medical technicians.  We respond to an average of 155 fire related calls a year and also provides a first responder program, assisting Elizabeth Township Area Emergency Medical Service, on an average of 25 runs a year.

28-DEC-09 -Fatal Accident, Liberty

Crews were dispatched to the 2600 block of Liberty Way around 14:30 Hrs. for a reported Motor Vehicle Collision (MVC) with entrapment.  Crews arrived to find one male passenger entrapped and unresponsive in the vehicle.  Crews worked quickly to stabilize the vehicle and remove the patient who was in cardiac arrest. The patient was transported to a local hospital, where he later was later pronounced dead.

12 DEC 2009- Structure Fire
City of McKeesport, Mutual Aid Assist.

A mutual aid request sent Liberty firefighters responding into McKeesport for a structure fire along Packer Street.  Firefighters reported to command (190-DC3) and were assigned to overhaul operations.  There were no known injuries reported on the scene and the Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
